Open churchyard tidy up

At the end of July a start was made on tidying a corner of the open church yard.

It had become an eyesore, a dumping ground for grave-spoil, concrete, stones and plastic flower wrappers.

A group of volunteers tackled the nettles, the bone-dry soil and stones to begin the process of creating an attractive wild flower area, one that encourages greater biodiversity.

In the autumn we hope to continue landscaping and with the hope of some much needed rain, to begin sowing.

Here are some before and after shots plus the happy volunteers!
