Christmas Prayer Tree

On Friday 13th St John’s joined together with Churches Together in Midsomer Norton for the Nativity play and hot chocolate and stalls at the Methodist church. The play was a great success with all the local primary schools taking part, and the added bonus of a real live Jesus in the manager.

The play and carols were all lead by the local ministers and it was a blessing to be part of the service and to see the church full of young people all enjoying themselves. The hot chocolate was also much appreciated by all age groups and we at St Johns had a stall and the Prayer Tree, a real Christmas tree, with stars for the prayers to be written on and then attached to the branches.

It was a great privilege to share the stories of the families who were praying for specific things and to help the young ones attach their star.

The tree then sits in the chancel of St John’s all over the Christmas period and our congregation can add a star with a prayer to it.  At the end of the Christmas period we feed the tree and if the weather is kind to us we can use it again next year
