At St. John’s, outreach into the local community and beyond is regarded as an essential part of our ethos. Looking further afield we try to support third world communities through selling fairly traded goods. We also strongly support the application by Midsomer Norton and Radstock to become an approved Fair Trade community.
On the first Sunday of every month, after the 9.30 a.m. service, we have a Traidcraft stall in the Church Hall. People can come and browse while having a cup of coffee and chatting with friends. Mostly we sell consumables, but we also have Traidcraft catalogues available for anyone who would like to branch out and order other purchases, for instance, jewellery, wine, clothing and household goods amongst other things. We also have a stall at our Summer and Autumn Fairs when many members of the wider community can come and see what Traidcraft is all about.
June and Melvyn Matthews are also happy to give talks to groups about Fair Trade around the world.
